This season, Reinoud Van Mechelen offers beauty in abundance to bring his time as artist in residence at AMUZ to a close. The Flemish tenor embodies the values as AMUZ. He makes music of the highest quality, surrounds himself with like minds and treads unexplored paths. He works regularly with the cream of international ensembles, such as Les Arts Florissants & William Christie, Le Poeme Harmonique & Vincent Dumestre and Le Concert Spirituel & Hervé Niquet. He performs as a soloist in opera productions in Belgium and abroad (de Munt in Brussels, Opera Ballet
Vlaanderen, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Théâtre Royal de Versailles in France, Theater an der Wien in Austria) with international conductors such as Simon Rattle and Trevor Pinnock.
He has also founded his own ensemble, a nocte temporis, with which he develops personal projects for large or small settings. Projects like these are crucial to Van Mechelen. He uses them to investigate unfamiliar repertoire from the French Baroque or perform interpretations
of songs by forgotten Belgian composers. He is supported by musicologists and the research body Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles. AMUZ is committed to supporting Van Mechelen’s projects and presenting them to a wide audience. This season at AMUZ, Van Mechelen will be setting his sights on the repertoire of George Frideric Handel, Ludwig van Beethoven and Carl Maria von Weber.
