Quatuor Dialogues

Classical Quintets Retold by a Master Arranger

“Mozart’s quintets are delectably varied: some bursting with drama and passion, others virtuoso and full of stories,” Vinciane Baudhuin confided in us. The phenomenal oboist is coming to Antwerp with an outstanding string trio and a collection of music from the entourage of the noble family Fürstenberg. They led a grand life in 18th century Donaueschingen, where the Bohemian star oboist Franz Joseph Rosinack held sway over the musical scene. His arrangements of operas, symphonic works and chamber music accompanied buffets, hunting parties and other royal events. Rosinack was not one for mere transcriptions. He reconsidered the instrumentation, adapted the text of the notes where necessary and added new musical dialogues that exploited the expressive potential and sound qualities of each instrument to the full. Quatuor Dialogues showcases the arranger’s craft with quintets by Mozart and a string trio by Haydn.
