What did the angels know that we have forgotten? This production seeks the answer from two visionary thinkers and artists: Hildegard von Bingen and Heinrich von Meißen, alias Frauenlob. She was a mystic, composer and, centuries later, the heroine of the New Age movement: a spiritual phenomenon avant la lettre. He was an itinerant poet and minnesinger, celebrated and imitated until long after his death. Their music unlocks a world where sound is a mystical experiment and pure imagination all rolled into one. Hildegard’s ecstatic hymns and Frauenlob’s refined minnesang are borne by the voices, lute, vielle and bagpipes of PER-SONAT: the quintessential mediaeval specialist that you simply must hear in this repertoire.
