After Bach and famous composers of the French Baroque, Reinoud Van Mechelen turns his attention to his third great musical love: Mozart. In his concert arias, the genius composer wrote scenes that could have come straight from his best operas. Many of them contain dramatic texts that are elevated to the sublime by music of exceptional precision.
Anna Besson performs Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D Major. The concerto was a commission from a wealthy amateur flautist. Under pressure from a lack of time and money, all Mozart could come up with was a rewriting of his own Oboe Concerto in C Major, KV 314 for the flute: a simple solution, but a successful one.
