Olga Pashchenko doesn’t play Mozart, she ‘speaks’ Mozart. Every note that our artist-in-residence conjures from the sounding board breathes spontaneity – as if the music were coming into existence on that very spot. Along with Il Gardellino – her partners-in-crime for the recording of Mozart’s complete piano concertos – Pashchenko pays tribute to the composer’s versatility with a majestic trilogy: the elegant Piano Concerto no. 12 in A Major, including its tribute to Wolfgang’s mentor Johann Christian Bach; the sparkling Piano Concerto no. 22 in E major, in which operatic drama and characterful clarinets set the tone; and the tumultuous Symphony no. 25 in G minor – a key work from Mozart’s Sturm und Drang period. Pashchenko’s interpretations on historic pianos have been internationally acclaimed as “astonishingly virtuoso” and “with a personality that lets the music speak directly” (BBC Music Magazine): an ideal match for the “infallible and stylish ensemble playing” (Gramophone) of Il Gardellino!
