With contemporary work by Nico Muhly, Alex Mills, Freya Waley-Cohen and Max Andrzejewski, Byrne transforms his age-old instrument into the mouthpiece of the 21 st century. Electronics enhance the warm resonance of gut strings, historical playing techniques pluck from new registers of expression, and the arts intertwine intimately in this unique crossover.
