Brass instruments are the very heart and soul of InAlto. In this instrumental and vocal concert, the ensemble gives you a sense of the versatility of brass instruments for festive and formal ceremonies. The programme, devoted to 17th century German music, ranges from Heinrich Schütz to Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven. After all, the tradition of using brass instruments was perpetuated by Beethoven in his Aequales for trombone quartet. The composer Ignaz von Seyfried wrote vocal arrangements of the Aequales, which were performed at Beethoven’s funeral.
