The darkest days of the year conceal the promise of the light: a new beginning heralded with songs of joy at the birth of the Christmas child. Currende’s voices and instruments lay songs of hope, wonder, joy and love over our shoulders like a warm blanket. This programme is unashamedly evergreen thanks to a fine selection of music from Flanders: with Renaissance motets in Latin and folk songs in Old Dutch, immortal Christmas classics and seldom heard gems span a single, magnificent arch from Christmas celebrations to intimate moments of togetherness and back again. The appealing Baroque arrangements are by Piet Stryckers, Willem Ceuleers and Erik Van Nevel.
