In the early 15th century, musical worlds converged at the court of the Malatestas in Italy. Northern composers such as Guillaume Du Fay combined the complex mediaeval style with the new sounds of the emerging Renaissance: an explosive mixture that would change music history. The joyful motets and songs were used to celebrate royal weddings, mark political triumphs and accompany adventurous journeys. Cappella Pratensis evokes a world where virtuosity and clarity meet, with voices, trompettas and a selection of works by Guillaume Du Fay and his contemporaries – including a few pieces in a modern world première!
