Since its founding, AMUZ has been more than a concert hall: it is a place where heritage, music and community come together. Our building — the early Baroque former St Augustine’s Church — is a listed monument: a jewel from the past, with a contemporary role as a home for culture.
At AMUZ, we believe that music and culture are not merely entertainment, but powerful tools to bring people together, create connection and strengthen social resilience.
Accessibility & encounter
AMUZ is an open house: our halls, foyer and facilities are accessible — including for wheelchair users and visitors with reduced mobility.
We welcome all ages — from young to old — and encourage families to experience music together.
Experiencing cultural heritage
We cherish the historic character of the church. Through guided tours and open days, we make this heritage tangible and alive for local residents and visitors alike.
We aim to present music through the centuries — from the Middle Ages to today — in an accessible way, so that classical music is not reserved for insiders alone.
Participation and community
Where music and society meet: AMUZ invests in participatory projects — for young and old, and for everyone who wishes to be part of a community.
With this ambition at heart, our new neighbourhood choir (from 2026 onwards) will bring the local community even closer together: music as a means to meet neighbours, connect people and create something beautiful together.
Music as a connecting language
Music transcends language, background and age. It brings people together — that is what we believe. AMUZ wants to harness this connecting power to embrace diversity and enable genuine interaction.
Heritage as a shared good
The historical value of our location is a richness we want to share, not hide. By opening our doors, we make heritage tangible and alive.
Community spirit, wellbeing & inclusion
In a rapidly changing world and city, social connectedness is essential. AMUZ aims to be a safe and welcoming space where everyone — regardless of background or experience — feels at home.
Future-oriented & sustainable
Just as we care about the environment and sustainability, we also want to take responsibility for the social and societal impact of our work. Culture is not a luxury, but an essential element of resilience and coexistence.
Neighbourhood choir (from 2026)
A singing initiative for and by local residents, open to everyone — with or without singing experience. Music as a bridge between generations and backgrounds.
Neighbourhood talks & moments of encounter
Informal gatherings to bring neighbours together, share ideas and create new connections.
Livestreams
Several times a year, AMUZ livestreams a concert to nearby care and support facilities, allowing less mobile listeners to enjoy the music as well.
Supported employment
Together with Mobilant, we work towards an inclusive world and an inclusive workplace. AMUZ therefore offers opportunities for supported employment.
Guided tours
Opportunities to discover the historic building, its artworks and the inner workings of AMUZ.
Collaborations with local organisations
With partners from the neighbourhood — other cultural institutions, schools, community networks and associations — to develop projects that unite neighbourhood and culture.
AMUZ is not just a concert hall. We are an open house. A place where past and present meet, where music and humanity go hand in hand.
Whether you feel like an evening of music, want to sing along in the neighbourhood choir, simply wish to meet your neighbours, or want to explore the historic building — everyone is welcome at AMUZ. Together, we make art truly part of society.
Welcome home.
