Reinoud Van Mechelen and his ensemble a nocte temporis present the final part in their trilogy focusing on the star hautes-contres of French Baroque music. This concert is a musical portrait of the singer and composer Joseph Legros (1739-1793) who starred in French operas by Gluck, Gossec, Grétry and Piccinni. He was considered the most prominent haute-contre of his generation, with an extraordinarily brilliant and flexible upper register. In just ten years, the Leuven-based tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen has emerged as a benchmark in Baroque music. His sparkling recordings and generous live concerts have taken him onto the world’s greatest stages. So we are delighted to welcome him to AMUZ as our new artist in residence.
