The viola da gamba and harpsichord perform the ultimate seduction dance in this concert bill drenched in intimacy and depth. Lucile Boulanger – recently awarded the prestigious Victoire de la Musique ventures into the holy of holies with a visit to Johann Sebastian Bach and his entourage. As well as a sonata by the master himself, you will hear work by his son Carl Philipp Emanuel, his idol Dietrich Buxtehude and family friend Carl Friedrich Abel. The viol player who “has freed herself from the tyranny of time” (Diapason) and the harpsichordist who has turned his characterful accompaniment into a trademark are the dream team for this combination of contrapuntal complexity and galant refinement. Where does the Thomaskantor’s inventiveness end and the story of the performers and instruments begin?
