Jupiter Ensemble intends to spoil you with the perfect beginning to the Easter season, featuring the brilliant soloists Lea Desandre and Ambroisine Bré. Although Jeremiah’s Laments are far from cheerful, the compositions for these texts are the pieces most frequently listened to during Passiontide after J.S. Bach’s Passions. The most famous, and doubtless also the most beautiful of these compositions are the Leçons de Ténèbres by François Couperin, with their extraordinary humanity and intimate emotion. Thomas Dunford, the “Eric Clapton of the lute” (according to BBC Magazine) is already turning heads with his new baroque ensemble, Jupiter. We’ve certainly been won over!
