Silentii

Museum Plantin-Moretus, garden

The Alamire Foundation, International Centre for the Study of Music in the Low Countries, joined hands with Park Abbey Heritage site in Leuven to develop the sound installation SILENTII with plainchant. The installation consists of five speakers arranged on a metal arch. Entering the circle of the artwork, the visitor is immersed in different sounds. From each speaker you hear one voice of the composition. Depending on where you stand, one individual voice will be more prominent than the others. This soothing single-voiced music invites you to pause for a moment, to reflect or to relax.

The sound installation can be visited for free in the courtyard of the Plantin-Moretus Museum from Tuesday, July 2nd to Sunday, September 8th. The inner garden is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 AM and 5 PM.

Sound Installation made by the Alamire Foundation as part of the FWO/SBO project The Sound of Music and the City Festival New Horizons | Dieric Bouts Festival in Leuven in collaboration with Erfgoedsite Abdij van Park.
