Revue Blanche & Katharina Smets

Nenia

After the successful Misia, the golden combo of Revue Blanche and Katharina Smets comes together again for a magic-realist journey through darkness and light, from a farewell to a new beginning. Existential questions such as “How do you deal with the death of a loved one?” or “What does it mean to go on living in the presence of absence?” form the heartbeat of this production somewhere between a concert, radio play and sound poem. The four virtuoso musicians and the sound artist feel their way along the borders of genres and disciplines. Frederik Neyrinck has written a score especially for them, inspired by Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo: the gripping epic opera in which the mythical bard descends into the underworld becomes a metaphorical exploration of loss and connection. This poetic performance blends whispering clouds of the soprano, flute, viola and harp with words of grief, consolation and hope.

This concert is a coproduction by LOD muziektheater, Klarafestival and CC De Factorij.

With the support of the Flemish Government.
