Trio Mediæval will open the new concert season with hymns, psalms and lullabies. These intimate songs are as old as time and as new as tomorrow. The ensemble has delved into the oral history of Norway and the lesser-known music of the Swedish-speaking community in Estonia. According to age-old tradition, the singers have also added a layer to the music with their own arrangements and ornamentations. There are brand-new pieces as well: Anders Jormin’s Sci vias domini immediately immerses you in the meditative atmosphere of a hymn reminiscent of Hildegard von Bingen’s convent life. The lullabies by Anders Jormin and Sinikka Langeland sound like tiny musical gifts, intimate experiences from our childhoods.
