“Everything in life is connected to rites of passage. And what it means to be a woman or man, rich or poor, black or white. You learn most about a culture by looking at birth, marriage and death and everything that goes on around them”, said the photographer Lieve Blanquaert in NRC Handelsblad. In recent years, she has travelled the world in search of the emotions of women at these special moments. Tiburtina Ensemble adds music drawn from both daily life and special occasions. This new production with music, words and images, commissioned by Laus Polyphoniae, promises to be a special and deeply human combination of female voices and universal yet unique images of birth, love and death.
