The Brabant polyphonist Giovanni Battista Martini (born in the Namur region) was a member of the renowned Milanese chapel belonging to the Sforza family, along with Loyset Compère, Gaspar van Weerbeke, Alexander Agricola and a few other composers from the Low Countries. Martini composed masses, motets, psalms, hymns and a few secular songs including chansons. The Swiss ensemble Le Miroir de Musique, led by Baptiste Romain, highlights the wide diversity of this composer’s music in a masterly fashion, with works including the four-part La fleur de biaulté.
