Under the Sun King’s rule, France became the most powerful nation in Europe, and the arts flourished. In the spirit of the times, Jean-Baptiste Lully created the ‘tragédie lyrique’ or lyric tragedy, incorporating music, visual arts, theatre and dance. Besides parts of these tragedies – with magnificent texts – you will hear two exceptional chamber pieces from the same period. El Gran Teatro del Mundo and the famous Swedish tenor Anders J. Dahlin give you a wonderful glimpse of the musical diversity of the time and spoil you with a pure, passionate and refined show.
